Knowledgebase Adult Education

Logo der Internetplattform Knowledgebase Erwachsenenbildung

Knowledgebase Adult Education is an information platform that provides access to articles, specialist literature and full text in order for research to be conducted on the following subjects: the history of adult education and the popularisation of science; methodology and didactics in adult education; education and scientific research; the organisation, structure and scope of activities of the Austrian adult education centres; their statistics and structural analysis; current continuing education offerings for teaching staff and trainers in adult education.

The illustrative websites of Historiography offer insight into the history of adult education and the popularisation of science in Austria from the 19th century to the present, thereby allowing current topics and problems in the field of adult education to be viewed in their historical context and better understood.

Knowledgebase Adult Education unites the past and the future, theory and practice, and offers information for both experts and interested laypeople. Using modern technology, it meets the old demands of adult education that date back to the European Enlightenment, namely democratisation and popularisation of knowledge, in a modern form.

Knowledgebase Adult Education is a joint project of the Association of Austrian Adult Education Centres (VÖV) and the Austrian Archives for Adult Education. It is financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and by the European Social Fund (ESF).

In 2007, Knowledgebase Adult Education received an Innovation Award from the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE).
