Anton Szanya, born in 1945, studied history at the University of Vienna; historian.
Started working as a pedagogical assistant for the "Verband Wiener Volksbildung" on 15th September 1975; worked as the director of an adult education centre from 1977 to 1998; worked as a research assistant at the Austrian Archives for Adult Education since 2000. He retired on 1st September 2007.
National chairman of the Austrian Free Thinkers Association from 1985 to 1990.

Research focuses: Adult education, handicapped education, political education, the history of popular and adult education, psychohistory, modern history and contemporary history.
